Far left New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wanted a seat on the House Energy and Commerce Committee but has been passed over, thankfully.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, stated in a video interview that the House lost its Democratic majority. However, that’s not what actually happened. AOC was responding to a question on live video about “why did we lose so many seats, and what do we need to do get them back?” by someone calling in.

Why do you think AOC wanted a seat on that committee? Could it be so she could push her Green New Deal and other far left policies?

Perhaps she can use her time to actually work on behalf of the people she was elected to represent.

AOC Rebuked in Bid for House Committee Post

Outspoken socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was soundly defeated in her bid for a seat on the influential House Energy and Commerce Committee, losing out to fellow New York Democrat Kathleen Rice after some criticized AOC’s support for liberal primary challenges to sitting incumbent Democrats.

Rice, a three-term House member who represents New York’s 4th Congressional District on Long Island just outside the eastern boundary of New York City, won 46-13 in a secret ballot of the Democratic Policy and Steering Committee on Thursday, Politico reported.

The battle was the latest rebuke from Democrats of Ocasio-Cortez and her ideological cohorts, who were blamed by fellow party members in the House for a loss of as many as a dozen seats three days after the election.

Rep. Kathleen Rice has captured a prized seat on the House Energy and Commerce Committee after a contentious showdown with fellow New Yorker, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Rice and Ocasio-Cortez have been battling behind the scenes for weeks to secure one of the few open seats on the exclusive committee, which oversees everything from health care policy to climate issues.

Tensions spilled into the open Thursday in a private meeting of the Steering and Policy Committee, where Democrats were forced to choose between the two members in a tense — and awkward — secret ballot vote.

Rice ultimately won in a lopsided vote of 46-13, though it wasn’t without some drama after some moderate Democrats openly criticized Ocasio-Cortez.

Has AOC become too extreme even for members of her own party?

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) said during a recent town hall that Republicans regularly call any election loss 'illegitimate.'

Ocasio-Cortez said during her appearance last weekend that Republicans were routinely denying election results, which she called a hallmark of 'tyranny.' A number of prominent members of her own party have said that fraud and cheating marred, or even invalidated, Democrats' recent gubernatorial losses in Georgia and Florida, as well as Hillary Clinton's defeat in the 2016 presidential election.

'It's quite tragic and it's very sad that it's devolved to the point that any election they lose is illegitimate, and any election they win means they can govern with impunity,' Ocasio-Cortez said. 'That is almost the definition or one of the hallmark aspects of authoritarianism.'

Ocasio-Cortez has repeatedly praised Democrat Stacey Abrams, the Georgia gubernatorial candidate who never conceded her 2018 loss in spite of losing by more than 54,000 votes to Republican Brian Kemp. Abrams claimed Kemp engaged in systematic voter suppression. Democratic presidential candidates, including Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.), repeated her complaints.

Abrams is not the only high-profile candidate whose loss Democrats have contested. Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum suggested in March that he would have beaten Republican Ron DeSantis if there had been a proper vote count. Gillum conceded his defeat the night of the election, then retracted his concession, and then conceded again when a recount showed him more than 30,000 votes behind his opponent.

Similarly, Democrats have cried foul over Hillary Clinton's 2016 loss to Donald Trump since the day of the election. Clinton has been among the most vocal objectors, calling Trump an 'illegitimate president' who knows he stole the election with Russian assistance.
